How do home visits work?

Start by contacting Solace to describe what you need. If a home visit is suitable, we will agree a time, and the doctor will come to your home to carry out an assessment, talk things through with you and any family present, and explain a plan of care. Follow-up visits or telehealth reviews can be arranged where needed.

Which concerns are suitable for telehealth?

Accepted Answer

Telehealth can work well for follow-up reviews, medication discussions, chronic condition check-ins, and some new concerns that do not need a physical examination. Colds, flu & sore throats, Coughs & chest infections, Rashes, bites & eczema, Mild UTI & stomach bugs, Meds, results & letters, Low mood, anxiety & sleep If the doctor feels you need to be seen in person, a home visit or another service will be recommended instead.

Can I book for a family member?

Yes. Many enquiries come from relatives arranging care for a parent or loved one. We will need the patient's consent where they are able to give it, and we welcome family involvement in conversations about care.

What does palliative care mean?

Palliative care is specialised support for people living with a life-limiting illness. It focuses on comfort, symptom relief, dignity and quality of life, and supports families too. It can begin at any stage of a life-limiting illness, alongside other treatment, and is not only for the final days of life.

How much does a consultation cost?

Consultation fees depend on the type of visit and the care involved. Fees, and any additional charges such as medications, supplies or tests, will be confirmed with you when booking, before your appointment.

What should I do in an emergency?

Accepted Answer

Solace Health is not an emergency service. If you or someone with you has a medical emergency, such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, signs of stroke or loss of consciousness, call 511 for an ambulance or go to the Accident & Emergency Department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital immediately.
